Loving my aGPS on my XV6800

Saturday, September 20, 2008

I've been loving my GPS experience using my XV6800. Now that I can get a GPS lock within a few seconds, it's been great. I use my GPS while driving and walking. It's been a great experience and I can't imagine using a smartphone that doesn't have a built-in GPS.

So if all future smartphones come with integrated GPS chips, then who's going to need those stand-alone GPS units like the TomTom and Garmin devices sold at BestBuy?

Can you tell me where you got your JVM? The one that I use installs fine but then when I try to install apps like GMail or Opera Mini it always tells me that there is not enough memory to install.

I WISH I could get my GPS working on my XV6800. I have tried numerous times following a few tutorials to get it working and NOTHING. I even used the ppckitchen to cook up a custom rom and still, no GPS ever. I can't get an answer as to whether there is a likeliness of faulty radio hardware or something else, but I'm utterly envious of those who can get theirs to work... and am open to pointers other than the ppcg and xda-dev tutorials which have given me nothing but headaches. :(
Having wifi and GPS on this are the primary reasons I bought it instead of just going with another basic phone.
