Droid X - my favorite Verizon smartphone
Friday, December 17, 2010
I've been using the Droid X for the past few months and it's been my favorite smartphone on the Verizon Wireless network. This device may seem large at first, but you'll get used to the size quickly because the device is so thin. The next generation of Android smartphones on Verizon will have tremendous capabilities so let's see what comes out in 2011!

Unlimited Skype-to-Skype calls on Verizon Wireless
Tuesday, May 4, 2010
Verizon Wireless is advertising "Unlimited Skype-to-Skype calls." Smartphones that are capable of Skype Mobile include a long list of smartphones running Google Android and BlackBerry. Sorry Windows Mobile and webOS users. Your devices aren't on the list right now. Let's hope that changes soon.
In the past, people relied on Wi-Fi connections to use Skype. Now, you can use your 3G connection (without doing any hacking or modifications to your phone). This is a great feature for medical students, international medical graduates who still have family members overseas, and for cost-conscious physicians who want to save on phone bills and international calls.

Droid gets an update to Android 2.1
Saturday, April 3, 2010
It's finally here! Verizon has been slow to release updates, but the Motorola Droid now can be upgraded to Android 2.1.
Let's hope that HTC and Verizon work things out so that the HTC Droid Eris gets the same update soon!

Testing the Motorola Droid
Tuesday, March 30, 2010
If I had to buy a new phone today, it would be the Motorola Droid. Even if Verizon sold the iPhone, I think I'd choose the Droid. Why? I love the fact that I can get both a capacitive touch screen along with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
The Droid is a great phone and you can read about my thoughts here:

Will we see an Verizon iPhone announced this week?
Monday, January 25, 2010
Apple will be making some exciting announcements this week. In addition to the rumored iSlate, the Verizon iPhone may be on the list of announcements. Wouldn't that be exciting? I don't think it will be called the iPhone 4G, but maybe Apple will have a creative name for it.
Do you think the iSlate will be available as a CDMA version on Verizon?

Mighty ROM for HTC Touch Pro2
Monday, January 11, 2010
It's time for me to load Mighty ROM for my HTC Touch Pro2. I've tried Mighty ROM on my previous HTC Touch Pro.
Custom ROMs are great because you can find the right balance of features and functionality. I used to load custom ROMs on my HTC Titan (XV6800 or Mogul), but now that I'm using the Touch Pro2, it's time to unlock this phone and try some custom ROMs.

It's all about Android for Verizon Wireless
Thursday, January 7, 2010
Even though Verizon may eventually get the Apple iPhone, my prediction is that Android will surpass the iPhone by the time that happens. We're seeing such a huge uptake of Android smartphones, especially as more manufacturers release devices. HTC, Motorola, and now even Dell has announced the Mini 3 Android smartphone (although I don't think they will release a CDMA version for Verizon).
HTC XV6800
Tuesday, January 5, 2010

Now, the big question is my mind is this: what smartphone will XV6800 users choose when it comes time to upgrade?
Let's assume that users will maintain loyalty to HTC. Will they stick with Windows Mobile? Or will they switch to Android? HTC has some great Windows Mobile and Android phones coming out in 2010, so get excited!
Who still uses the XV6800?
Sunday, January 3, 2010
The XV6800 used to be my main smartphone. It was great to have access to some nice custom ROM packages that were built on Windows Mobile 6.1 and Windows Mobile 6.5
I'm wonder who still uses the XV6800? (AKA HTC Titan, Sprint Mogul, etc.)

Happy New Year!
Thursday, December 31, 2009
As we enter 2010, let's see what types of new smartphones Verizon will release on its network. I'm particularly excited about the Android smartphones, but I think it will also be great to see the Apple iPhone and the Palm Pre running webOS.
